The Lagos State government has set up a committee to oversee all motor parks and garages in the state, with Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya as its chairman.
Alhaji Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo was until March the Lagos State chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). MC Oluomo’s son had announced the appointment in March, but the Lagos State government immediately denied it.
The government also denied the setting up of a parks management committee.
The government now says the 25-member committee will “ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are not allowed to threaten law and order.”

MC Oluomo and NURTW
MC Oluomo had a turbulent career as the chairman of NURTW in Lagos State. His leadership was characterised by turf wars and violence.
They often led to injuries and sometimes the deaths of other persons, but on January 9, 2019, Oluomo was stabbed at a governorship rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos. He spent a week in hospital before he was discharged.
He was regularly accused of organising thugs that disrupt the political process in Lagos State. In March, he was suspended by the national leadership of NURTW over alleged insubordination, misconduct, and incitement. This led to him threatening to withdraw the state chapter from the union.
On Wednesday, the national leadership of NURTW officially removed Oluomo as the chairman of its Lagos chapter. The union also dissolved the administrative council of the chapter.
In a statement signed by Tajudeen Baruwa and Kabiru Ado Ya’u, NURTW national president and secretary respectively, MC Oluomo was accused of failing to show remorse and apologise following his suspension.
His appointment as the chairman of the Lagos Parks Management Committee is coming a day after his sack by NURTW.
