
President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to investigate the killing of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television.
Maduagwu was killed on Sunday during an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe district of Abuja.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described her death as “cruel and condemnable.”
“Ms Maduagwu was a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner,” Tinubu said.
He instructed law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and thorough probe into the incident to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
The President also commiserated with the bereaved family and assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, while intensifying efforts to tackle crime nationwide.

President Tinubu extends his heartfelt condolences to the family of Ms Maduagwu, the management and staff of Arise News Television, and the entire Nigerian media fraternity over this painful loss.
