The Kano State government shut down a supermarket, Wellcare, on Sunday over its refusal to accept old naira notes.
The acting chairman of the Consumer Protection Council, Baffa Babba Danagundi, warned other businesses in Kano that they would meet a similar fate if they keep rejecting the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.
Kano is one of at least eight states challenging the federal government and Central Bank of Nigeria’s naira redesign policy in court.
