The Lagos State government has reopened the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge, bringing relief to commuters after completing major repair works ahead of schedule.
The bridge, which was partially closed to traffic on June 28, was expected to take 100 days to fix but was delivered in just 73.
Officials said the repairs on its expansion joints were critical to ensuring motorists’ safety and preventing further damage.
Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, and Commissioner for Transportation, Seun Osiyemi, who inspected the project, credited the early completion to strong collaboration between contractors, security agencies, and residents.
The reopening is expected to ease traffic congestion along one of Lagos’s busiest routes, cut travel time, and reduce fuel costs.
The state government also announced that similar works would begin soon in the Maza-Maza area as part of its wider infrastructure renewal drive.
