More than 1,300 people, including at least 300 foreigners, are missing after catastrophic flash floods struck parts of China and Nepal on Wednesday.
More than 160 people have been confirmed dead, while search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas.
Dramatic footage shows powerful floodwaters sweeping through mountainous communities, submerging villages and destroying bridges.
The flooding has also damaged critical trade infrastructure along the China-Nepal border, including Gyirong Port, which handled nearly a third of bilateral trade in 2024.
The disaster was triggered after a powerful landslide blocked the Bhote Koshi River, sending a massive surge of water downstream from China into Nepal.
Scientists say a glacier may have broken off and fallen into the valley, potentially triggering or worsening the landslide and subsequent flooding.
