The Senate adjourned Tuesday’s plenary in honor of a member of the House of Representatives, Isa Dogonyaro, who died on Friday after a brief illness.
This is just as the upper chamber held a minute silence in honor of the lawmaker who, until his death at age 46, represented Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State in the 10th Assembly.
The decision to suspend plenary was in line with the tradition of the National Assembly, following a motion by the Deputy Senate Leader, Lola Ashiru.
The motion, put to a voice vote by the President of the Senate, was unanimously supported by the Senators.
They commiserated with the family of the deceased lawmaker and the government and people of Jigawa State. The plenary was thereafter adjourned to Wednesday, 15 May.
