Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been declared the winner of the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election held on Saturday, November 8.
The declaration was made by the Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, on Sunday, at the State Collation Centre in Awka.
Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 99,445 votes.
Paul Chukwuma of the Young People's Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes, while George Muoghalu of the Labour Party (LP) polled 10,576 votes to come fourth.
An analysis of the result shows that Soludo won in all 21 local governments in the state, replicating a feat previously achieved only by his predecessor, Willie Obiano.
Announcing the result, Prof. Omoregie said Soludo met all constitutional requirements and polled the highest number of votes to be declared the winner of the election.
On concerns about five polling units in Anambra West and Onitsha South, Awka South, and Anaocha, where results were reportedly manipulated and over-voting was recorded, Prof. Omoregie noted that the difference in count could not overturn the overall result.
"The total number of voters in the places where there were incidents is 10,481, and when compared with the over 300,000 votes margin between the winner and the first runner-up, it's inconsequential," he said.
The National Chairman of APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, said the results show that the people were at home with the transformation agenda of Soludo's government.
A total of 2,788,864 voters were registered, but only 598,229 were accredited for the election.
The total votes cast were 595,298, with 584,054 of them considered valid. Here is a breakdown of the result:
