
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new heads of federal agencies, in a move aimed at strengthening institutions across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the appointments take effect in September 2025.
Bello Bawa Bwari from Niger State was named the new Director-General of the National Biosafety Management Agency for an initial four-year term, effective September 18, 2025, in line with Section 5 of the agency’s establishment Act of 2015.
Similarly, Hon. Barr. Aminu Junaidu from Zamfara State has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Investment and Security Tribunal for a five-year term, beginning September 18, 2025.
In the tourism sector, Olayiwola Nurudeen Awakan has been appointed as Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) for an initial four-year term, effective September 2, 2025.
The presidency said the appointments reflect Tinubu’s resolve to reposition strategic agencies for national development.
“The President tasks the appointees to contribute their expertise in the development of the agencies for the good of the nation,” the statement added.
