Opinions remain split as to the credibility of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, following news of his political aspirations ahead of the 2023 elections.
Reports claim the Apex bank chief and All Progressive Congress (APC) member, could be vying for the 2023 presidency; a move that has led to more widespread criticisms than commendations towards Emefiele.
This is because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) entrusts sensitive election materials with the CBN during elections.
With Emefiele possibly "dreaming big", the CBN appears compromised already under his leadership ahead of the polls.
Simply put, how can the CBN be trusted with election materials by INEC when its governor is contesting the same elections?
Joyce Onyemuwa sought to sample the thoughts of callers on the Sunny Side.
For one caller, "INEC cannot afford to change the status quo."
However, Joyce paints a perspective that should be considered thoroughly.
