Synod Approval
Akintunde explained that the decision was approved by the Standing Committee of the General Synod, acting on behalf of the wider body, in line with the Constitution and Canons of the Church of Nigeria.
“The processes for election of bishops, consecration, inauguration, and enthronement will be announced in due course,” he added.
The Church of Nigeria, one of the largest provinces in the Anglican Communion worldwide, has continued to expand in recent years, citing the need to strengthen evangelism and pastoral care across diverse regions.
With the new dioceses, the Church now operates in 176 jurisdictions, reflecting its growing influence in both urban and rural communities.
