Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed October 27, 2025, for the arraignment of human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore.
The arraignment, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, was stalled due to the non-service of the five-count charge of alleged cybercrime on the activist.
At the proceeding, the Director of Public Prosecution from the Ministry of Justice told the court that the government was ready to arraign Sowore, X Corporation, and Meta (Facebook) Inc. as first to third respondents.
However, Sowore’s counsel, Marshal Abubakar, told the court that his client had not been served the charges. The counsel for Meta also aligned himself with the submission, noting he had only just been served in court.
The activist is accused of using his official X handle to make an offensive post on August 25, an act said to be contrary to Section 24(2)(b) of the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act 2024.
The case was adjourned until October 27.
