The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has dissolved the Rivers State executives of the party at all levels.
On Wednesday, the party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, told journalists at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja that a caretaker committee has been set up.
It will be chaired by Tony Okocha, with Eric Nwibani serving as its secretary, in line with a decision taken by the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the deputy national secretary, Festus Fuanter, Morka announced.
Other members of the committee are:
- Chibuike Ikenga
- Stephen Abolo
- Silvester Vidin
- Karibi Dan-Jumbo
- Darling Amadi
Morka said the caretaker committee would conduct fresh and comprehensive electronic party registration of all APC members in the state.
The committee will be inaugurated on Friday, 24 November, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
In reaction, the APC publicity secretary in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju, said the State Working Committee is studying Felix Morka’s statement.
He, however, argues that an elected executive cannot be dissolved on the pages of newspapers or television.
