The federal government has mandated universities across the country shut down for three weeks to enable students to participate in the upcoming elections.

In a letter addressed to the vice-chancellors and directors of inter-university centers, the Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki disclosed that the directive follows an order by Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education.

According to Maiyaki, all universities in the country are to be shut from February 22 to March 14 to allow students to participate in the general election.
