The Obidient Movement has addressed recent speculations, confirming that Peter Obi, the Labour Party's standard-bearer in the 2023 general election, remains with the party and has not joined any coalition.
This clarification came from Nana Kazaure, the Director of Strategic Communication and Media for the Obidient Movement, in a statement signed on Monday in Abuja.
Kazaure responded to media reports suggesting that Obi was offered a running mate position to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in a new coalition forming ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that these reports are unfounded and imaginary.
"While our engagements with partners and stakeholders towards a coalition continue amicably, we stress that there is no truth or basis to these reports," Kazaure stated.
The Obidient Movement highlighted Obi's commitment to creating a united front against bad governance, focusing on issues like corruption, hunger, poverty, poor healthcare, and education.
Kazaure reiterated that Obi's political involvement is driven by a desire for progressive politics that serve the Nigerian people, not merely for power.
The movement called for a focus on building a better Nigeria and advised against sensationalism and speculation in the media.
