The Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has warned that it will embark on an indefinite strike from Monday, 29 August.
The chairman of the union’s chapter in the commission Adoyi Adoyi disclosed this to journalists on Thursday.
He said the workers were embarking on the strike to register their displeasure over the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba’s usurping of the functions of the PSC such as the recruitment, promotion, and appointment of constables and officers.
Mr. Adoyi said the actions of the IGP were a gross violation of the Nigerian Constitution.
According to him, the workers will down tools until the matter is addressed.
