President Bola Tinubu has directed an immediate and comprehensive overhaul of the national security strategy to end the escalating violence in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara States.

Giving the directive on Wednesday during a meeting with security chiefs at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu bemoaned the killing of innocent citizens in Borno, Benue, and Plateau States, saying, "Enough is enough."

Addressing journalists later, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, said the service chiefs briefed the president about the attacks in the affected states, the death toll, and the destruction of properties.

The NSA said President Tinubu ordered a new approach to end insecurity in the country.

He acknowledged that the country was yet to be fully secure, and maintained that efforts were ongoing to sustain lasting peace and security in Nigeria.

The NSA said President Tinubu equally harped on the need to involve the local councils and state governments more in tackling security challenges.
