The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) says it will sue Senate President Godswill Akpabio regarding the handing out of “holiday allowances” to senators by the Clerk of the National Assembly.
This was contained in a statement on its official X handle.
“We’re suing the Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the alleged payments of 'holiday allowances' by the Clerk of the National Assembly into the 'various accounts' of senators while some 137 million poor Nigerians face severe economic hardship,” read the statement.
SERAP is yet to make known the details of the intended lawsuit, including the petitioners and the specific charges.
The Senate President is yet to release an official statement in response to the allegations and the impending legal action.
