Interim coach of the Super Eagles Austin Eguavoen has talked up Nigeria’s AFCON title chances after qualifying for the Round of 16.
Speaking with reporters after the game against the Nile Crocodiles of Sudan, Eguavoen came out to claim the favourites tag and didn’t shy away from it.
He went further to talk about issues of complacency which was seen after the Eagles took the lead against Sudan. He noted that this seems to be the trend, but in his words “We’ll discuss this with the boys.”
Ahead of the third game against Guinea Bissau, he confirmed that fringe players would be used to keep the squad fresh heading into the knockout phase.
On a final note, he stated that despite the Eagles substitutes bench not delivering when called upon so far, he has the utmost confidence that they would be key for the Super Eagles as they aim to secure a 4th AFCON title.
