Rivers State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, Aaron Chukwuemeka, has reiterated his commitment to the PDP, stating that his allegiance is not to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike or Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Chukwuemeka made this known on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, where he addressed the recent controversial state congress held on 31st August. He noted that Governor Fubara was duly informed and that arrangements were made for his attendance. However, the congress proceeded without the governor.
“I expected that governor would be in that congress, his seat was there,” he said.
He also clarified that his priority after emerging as chairman is the unity and peace of the party in Rivers State:
“I’m not for Wike, I’m not for Fubara, I’m for PDP,” he said.
Chukwuemeka also touched on the status of defected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly - Martin Amaewhule and his colleagues. He added that no official communication had been received regarding their departure, referring to the time they announced their defection, which was also when he was serving as the caretaker committee chairman of the party.
