Tuesday's early morning downpour in Abuja did not deter protesting workers of the FCT Administration from sealing the main entrance to the FCT Secretariat as they continue their three-day warning protest.

The protesting workers gathered as early as 7 a.m. at the Area 11 FCTA Secretariat and blocked the entrance gate, like they did on Monday.

They initially showed no sign of backing down when it started drizzling, but the majority, especially the women, were forced to take to run for cover when the rain gathered momentum.

However, they returned to the spot of the protest when the rain subsided and continued dancing to songs from a speaker.

The FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, is expected to address the issues raised by the protesting workers on Thursday, during a planned live media parley.

The workers want authorities to address a 100-day primary school teachers' strike. The teachers left their classrooms on 24 March, complaining about the non-payment of the N70,000 minimum wage.

The situation has led to the closure of over 400 public primary schools, impacting thousands of pupils.

Wike is scheduled to meet the Nigerian Union of Teachers and Area Council chairmen on Thursday.
