Constitutional lawyer Dr C.A.J Chinwo has drawn parallels between the ongoing crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly and William Yeats ‘The Second Coming’ as captured in Chinua Achebe's ‘Things Fall Apart’.

According to him, “We are in a position of the falcon not hearing the falconer, things are falling apart.”

He made this assertion in an interview on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, stating that the ongoing crisis in the State House of Assembly is proof of a broken-down system.

Dr Chinwo expressed deep concern over the actions of the State House of Assembly members, emphasising that the imbroglio has brought Rivers State into disrepute.

“Unfortunately, the politicians in PDP in the Rivers State of Assembly have brought Rivers State to a state of utter embarrassment,” he said.

He appealed to the lawmakers' sense of reason, “if they are reasonable”, urging them to prioritise the state's interests over their political agendas because the current state of lawlessness is unbecoming of individuals holding the ‘honourable’ title.

“We are addressing a situation of lawlessness by people that are described as honourable,” he added.
