Socio-political commentator, Marcus Ijioma, has described the screening of nine commissioners who recently resigned from the Rivers State Executive Council as a “dangerous trend”.
Mr Ijioma made this description on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts in reaction to the screening invitation of the Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly to some commissioners who had resigned from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet in 2023.
For Mr Ijioma, the re-screening of these commissioners sets a negative precedence for politics in the state.
He explained that for the sake of having a loyal cabinet, “public interest, morality, and sensibility,” a different arrangement such as picking other trustworthy individuals loyal to President Bola Tinubu or former governor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, should have been considered.
“If I were the governor, I won’t accept them back,” he said.
