Lawyer and socio-political commentator Liborous Oshoma has voiced objections to recent calls for the arrest of Caretaker Committee Chairmen in Rivers State, asking, “What offence have they committed?”
His comments come amid escalating political tensions in the state, where issues surrounding the state assembly, local government administration, and CTC chairmen are causing significant concern.
In an interview on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, Oshoma also explained that “consistent spending of money without appropriation is an impeachable offence,” arguing that governors who are culpable of this undermine the integrity of governance.
Addressing the broader implications of the current political turmoil, he warned that if unresolved, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will face continuous distractions. To stabilise the political environment in the state, he said “wisdom should be allowed to prevail” and the FCT Minister and former governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, should be advised.
