No fewer than 2,300 athletes across Nigeria have registered for the grand finale of the National Secondary School Championship.
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Making of Champions, Bambo Akani, disclosed this in Calabar on Monday.
The second edition, which is billed for Calabar, is meant to discover athletes for Nigeria.
“I think we have unlocked something very special in Nigeria and I have no doubt that some of the athletes we discover will represent Nigeria in the 2028 Olympics,” Akani said.
“We had 375 schools in season One, but for the second edition, we have exceeded that with 400 schools registered and 8,000 athletes generally; when in 2023 we had 7,000 athletes.”
