The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has assured the public, depositors, and stakeholders of the resilience, safety, and soundness of the Nigerian banking sector.

This reassurance came through a statement issued by Mrs. Hakama Sidi-Ali, the bank's Acting Director of the Corporate Communications Department, on Monday.

Sidi-Ali addressed concerns raised by recent publications and social media reports containing misleading information about the operations of a regulated financial institution.

She emphasized that the institution mentioned in these reports adheres to stringent regulatory requirements, ensuring the safety of depositors' funds.

The CBN remains committed to monitoring all financial institutions under its regulatory purview, maintaining robust frameworks for early warning signals and risk-based supervision.

These mechanisms are designed to promptly address any emerging issues, thereby protecting the integrity of the financial system.

"We urge the public to disregard sensational or unverified claims and rely solely on official channels for information about the financial system," Sidi-Ali stated.

She further restated the CBN's dedication to fostering a secure banking environment where depositors can have full confidence in the safety of their funds.
