Nigerian oil marketers are set to engage in discussions with the Dangote Refinery, following the refinery's strategic move to acquire 4,000 trucks for direct distribution of petrol and diesel.

This information was revealed by the chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chinedu Okoronkwo, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Thursday.

Okoronkwo explained that the decision to collaborate comes in the wake of Dangote's expansion into the distribution sector, which threatens to upend the traditional market structure dominated by independent marketers.

Historically, the relationship between the marketers and Dangote has been fraught with tension, as the latter's integrated approach could bypass established distribution channels.

However, marketers are now seeking to partner with Dangote to ensure that the benefits of the refinery's substantial refining capacity are fully realized for the Nigerian economy.

By integrating their networks with Dangote's logistics capabilities, the marketers say they're aiming to enhance the efficiency of fuel distribution and potentially reduce costs for consumers.
