A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abutu Yaro says there is no need for presidential intervention regarding the dynamite explosion in Port Harcourt last week.
This statement comes after the presidency condemned a recent bomb blast in Borno State but remained silent on the Port Harcourt incident.
Speaking on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, AIG Yaro (retd) explained that the Port Harcourt explosion is a result of local political activities, unlike the Borno blast which is terrorism-related.
He urged key players in Rivers politics to maintain peace to ensure the safety of the state.
AIG Yaro (retd), further assured that local politicians suspected of being involved in the political unrest in the state following the explosion are being reprimanded, though he noted that such actions are carried out covertly.
