Former Rivers Labour Party Chairman, Deinye Pepple says the now dissolved state structure of the party dumped its governorship candidate, Beatrice Itubo because she lacked the capacity to emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship elections in the state.
Speaking on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, Mr Pepple said so many factors were considered by the state executive committee, including the 23 local government chairmen before making a unanimous decision to endorse the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Siminialayi Fubara said to be from a marginalised senatorial district.
He believes the capacity of a candidate is more important than party affiliations.
Mr Pepple also alleged that the Rivers state government rigged the 2023 Presidential elections in the state to the loss of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“Of course, Peter Obi won the elections,” he said.
